The Fateful Knight. First illustration for my illustrated short.
It was a quiet night. Under a singular night lamp between the buildings, lies Nizam. He is slouching on the pavement while leaning against the wall lifelessly, contemplating the life choices that he made. His yellow hairs that shaped like a nuclear mushroom cloud, prevent the light source directly above him to illuminate his face; rendering him rather gloomy on top of his already brooding appearance. Suddenly, a voice is breaking the silence of the night.
"Hey."
Nizam heard a voice but decided that it was too insignificant to be paid attention to. He remains motionless.
"It's not your fault you know?"
Such audacity! The voice finally hit Nizam's nerve. He looks up to the direction of the voice. The source of the voice is a man with white hairs, clad in black turtle-neck shirt. Nizam stared straight to his green colored pupils.
"What do you even know about me!? Fuck off!", shouted Nizam.
Nizam is furious. His eyes are teary out of anger. The white-haired man’s face shows a bit of relief as he finally gets what he wants; Nizam’s attention. He lowers himself to face Nizam up close. When he reached a squatting position he introduced himself.
“I am Anwar. I have the power to fight back Siong’s regime. I want to install myself as the Lord of this land. Will you help me?” Anwar ends his introduction.
“Huh!?”, gasped Nizam. Anwar’s explanation leaves Nizam flabbergasted. After a moment, Nizam manifests hysterical laughter.
“HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”
Nizam’s wrath, bewilderment, despondency, and sorrow are dancing; intertwines. It shows on his face. His tear ducts are gushing profusely. His face turns red. Such is the reaction that Nizam conjured as a reply to Anwar.
“Really!? You!?... And what army!?” scoffed Nizam on high notes. “I don’t give a fu-...!”
Nizam’s lashing out is cut short when suddenly he noticed a luminous object came out of Anwar’s right palm. The light is bright enough to deny Nizam’s sight from recognising the object. Nizam’s eyes are blinded by the sudden brightness in the middle of the dark.
“Argghh! What the...!” cried Nizam as he averts his sight.
“Seeing is believing, after all!” replied Anwar.
The light subsides, finally Nizam has a full grasp of the true nature of the object.
